The Purr-fect Cat Shelter invites all animal lovers and people who love to walk to join in the fun of our major fundraiser, the PCS PetWalk 2010. The date is Sunday, September 19 (rain or shine) at the Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole from 10am to 3pm . Do you have a dog? Your well-behaved dog is invited too! This is our 12th annual walk to raise money for the shelter with lots of exciting things for you to see and do all day.
Get started with the sponsor form and collect pledges from family, friends and co-workers then turn those pledges in the day of the event and head off for a leisurely 3-mile walk to help homeless animals. You may register to walk along the 3-mile wooded path of the Aggie school anytime between 10am and 1pm. A shorter hard surface route is available for wheelchairs, strollers and those who choose not to walk the wooded path. The "PCS Walk Team" will be happy to do the walking for those who collect pledges and are unable to attend. Participants who meet certain pledge level requirements will be eligible for prizes. Dogs participating in PetWalk 2010 will receive a doggie bandanna (while supplies last).
After you finish your walk, on the main field there will be many booths including rescue groups, demonstrations, pet samples, face painting, games for kids, raffles and lots more! Refreshments will also be available and participants can enjoy the fabulous live music provided by "Double Trouble" featuring Ruth Debrot and Fred Lungo.
If your pooch has joined you for the day bring him or her center field at 12 noon for the "Purr-fect Pooch Contest". Enter your dog, and then dazzle the judges to win the "top dog" ribbon and other prizes in the categories of wiggliest tail, loudest bark, biscuit catch, best trick, and best dog/owner look-a-like. Although other pets are best left at home the day of the walk they can still be a part of PetWalk 2010 by entering your "Coolest Cat", "Hottest Dog" or "Purr-fect Other Pet" in our photo contest. Show off your pet and let the PetWalk participants judge who they think is the best in each category. See the photo contest page (here) for details.
The PetWalk is a great opportunity to promote your non-profit or rescue organization, business, or service. If you would like to participate with a booth please contact the shelter for more information and availability.
Everyone from everywhere, with or without a dog is invited to the PetWalk 2010. Come on over to the Aggie school Sept 20th and show your support for homeless animals. All money raised at this event directly benefits the cats and kittens cared for by the volunteers of the Purr-fect Cat Shelter. See you there!
